Family work day

Today was productive! I love sat work days, and funny thing, so do the kids..
Things that got done around here.

Started the day with pancakes with two girly helpers.

Dresser for my room was put together by Neil ( will stain soon! Having Ikea furniture in my house makes me feel at home :))

Blackberry bushes pruned by Elijah

Quail frame cage final stain by Elijah

Candled eggs by Anita (27 out of 30 are growing chicks!)

Started pear, cardamom and ginger mead by Anita

Built up beds in back yard… Planted spinach and lentils, dug out Jerusalem artichokes, moved some dirt around… More planning with friend who knows about such things…

Ate hen that soaked in forty cloves hot tub with previously mentioned friend. Delicious! She was dispatched yesterday.

General web work and etc by Neil (I have no idea what he did, but it was some sort of nerdy work)

Oh and of course, general mayhem involving two littles with assistant Ana, my mothers helper.

Finishing the day with popcorn, pizza and Wallace and Grommet and I’m tired.

Did you get a hold of Cliff about the mead? Sorry I dont know, I am just in charge of marketing aka making labels and purchasing supplies;) He’s production manager! Save a bottle for us to try this summer, ok!

I found a recipe online…. Honey pear with spices! I’d love to have one of his recipes though… For the next batch.

Oh my, such good things. I think I told you once that I saw a show on the TV where every Saturday this couple walked around their house with a pen and paper to make note of every single thing that needed attention or repair. These people had done this so often that they were repairing the smallest scratch on the furniture and their home was pristine. It sounds as though you had an equally productive day.
I think you should blog the mead recipes. I’ve only had it once at John & Cheri’s house and it was honey mead. Very nice stuff. Oh, and where did you find your glass jugs?
Yes, I can see how IKEA furniture makes you feel at home. Is there a store nearby or do they ship?
    Well done Anita!

I don’t think we will ever get to ‘pristine’… But upkeep is constant, not to mention all the projects we have going with the remodeling and the ‘farm’ I am trying to create. Ha. :) in France we used to alternate every other week and do an outing every other Saturday, the park, the beach. Here we have more like an outing every 2-3 months when we go out of town for a weekend, but we enjoy it… It’s ours. :)

Oh and… Where is the part where as they went through their house the kids came behind them and did their ‘work’!? Haha.

Quote: “I love sat work days, and funny thing, so do the kids…”. It’s the second part of that statement, “so do the kids…” that provides the definitive evidence to prove that you are a better parent than I ever was. At least better at helping the kids enjoy “work day”. Well done! (Maybe I should have brewed some mead…)
