July 4th, All American

Our kids love a good party.

The morning on July 4th we went to the Waxhaw, NC parade. Fire trucks, buses, politicians, advocacy groups, candy throwing, free icecream… even the train graced us with a pass through during the parade.

Wish I had pictures… left the camera in the car. Bad blogger. Bad.

After naps and lunch we headed back to Neil’s parents for sandwiches (open faced garden tomato, jalapeno and mayo for me, LOVE LOVE LOVE). ┬áNeil bought a few firecrackers and the kids launched those. They wanted to have their own parade.

Of course they did. Mom is an old fuddy duddy, but Grandma said YES! So, off we went, flag waving and singing patriotic songs at the top of our lungs through the neighborhood. They probably thought we had been drinking.

Here are the pictures of the afternoon festivities, flag waving included.

(Being France for 5 years has caused us to neglect this holiday a bit. We found this video to give a refresher of our history for the kids).
