miss pants first trip to the zoo... the rest of us went too.

last weekend was sunny. we decided to take advantage of the weather while it lasted. we drove 25 min north to zoo de la barben in salon de provence.

It is clear from the disturbed look on Evangeline's face that she does not like the lion... They're not called the king of beasts for nothing. We notice that no one calls them "king of nice guys" or "king of kind animals" or "my best friend", etc... No! it's always the same old moniker "king of beasts"! Focus on the word "beast". That means a crude, huge, violent, heartless, vicious, mean, mindless, people-eating top-o-the-food-chain monster. Who needs these things anyway!! We're glad that the tyrannosaurus is extinct right? (Who would want to deal with one of THOSE loose in the back yard?) Why NOT lions also? That's what I want to know! I hope someone from PETA can pen a coherent response to this nagging question and explain why we even need lions. All they do is kill & eat all the calmer and more pleasant animals. What's that all about? Why aren't more people up-in-arms about lion behavioral patterns and the way they take advantage of the weak and defenseless? No wonder Mess Pants looks so upset!

Ana has the right idea... when you see a Lion, if you're not armed, then you duck, try to be quiet, still, and not smell like lunch...
