Portugal

We rarely take a vacation that isn’t somehow work related. This time though, we decided to take a whole week out and travel 4 hours east of Madrid to a tiny village on the border of Spain and Portugal. My parents have a work rental house there and we were able to stay free. Every day the kids swam. Our son trained for a swim test (which he passed!) and earned a Coke. Our daughter finally began to swim on her own in the shallow end of the public pool (after some time in Grandma and Papa’s mini pool to give her confidence). We crossed the border and saw ruins in Penamacor and Monsanto ,Portugal and ate a delicious (and cheap!)

meal as a family brought to us by a waitress that we didn’t understand… We loved being together, in quiet, in beauty and with no work… ahhhhhhh…..
